Answers for real estate agents

Why does a real estate agent's Google Business Profile get suspended?

A Google Business Profile is suspended when Google decides the profile breaks the guidelines for representing a business on Google, which means the profile stops appearing in Search and Maps until Google reinstates it. For real estate agents the recurring causes are a profile name carrying keywords, a city or a brokerage name, an address the agent does not personally staff during stated hours, and more than one profile for the same agent.

What does it mean when a Google Business Profile is suspended?

A suspension removes the profile from Google Search and Google Maps while the owner keeps dashboard access. Google states in its guidelines for representing your business on Google that it reserves the right to suspend access to Business Profiles for individuals or businesses that violate those guidelines.

For a real estate agent the practical effect is that the agent stops appearing in the map results for their own name and their own area, and the reviews attached to the profile stop being publicly visible. Nothing about the agent's website or their brokerage's profile changes; the suspension is specific to that one profile.

Can putting a city or a specialty in the business name get a profile suspended?

Including anything beyond the real-world business name is a documented suspension trigger. Google's guidelines state that including unnecessary information in a business name is not permitted and could result in suspension, and the published examples of prohibited additions include marketing taglines, location information, service or product information, phone numbers, website addresses and fully capitalised words.

A real estate agent's profile named for the agent, with nothing appended, satisfies the rule. A profile named with a parish, a neighborhood, a phrase such as luxury homes, or a search-style description does not, however accurately it describes the work. Google's stated test is the name used consistently on signage, website, stationery and as known to customers.

Does adding the brokerage name to an agent's profile cause problems?

Whether the brokerage name belongs in the profile name depends on how many public-facing agents work at that location. Google's individual practitioner guidelines state that when a practitioner is one of several public-facing practitioners at a location, the organization should hold its own separate profile and the practitioner's profile title should include only the practitioner's name, without the organization's name.

The rule inverts when the agent is the only public-facing practitioner at a branded location. Google states that a solo practitioner representing a branded organization is best served by sharing a single profile with the organization, named in the format brand or company followed by the practitioner name. Most real estate agents work in offices with other public-facing agents, which puts them in the first case.

Is a real estate agent even eligible for their own Google Business Profile?

Real estate agents are named by Google as individual practitioners eligible for a dedicated profile. Google's guidelines define an individual practitioner as a public-facing professional typically with their own customer base, and list doctors, dentists, lawyers, financial planners, and insurance or real estate agents as examples.

Google attaches two conditions and one exclusion. The practitioner must operate in a public-facing role and must be contactable directly at the verified location during stated hours, support staff are not eligible, and Google states that sales associates or lead generation agents for corporations are not individual practitioners and are not eligible for a profile.

Can one real estate agent have several Google Business Profiles?

One agent gets one profile. Google's guidelines state that a practitioner should not have multiple Business Profiles to cover all of their specializations, and separately that there should only be one profile per business.

That rules out the pattern of a separate profile for listings, another for buyers and another for a team brand at the same desk. Duplicate profiles for one agent create the ownership conflicts and the display problems Google's guidelines describe, and correcting them usually means marking the extra profiles closed rather than deleting them.

What should a real estate agent do first when a profile is suspended?

The first step is to find and fix the guideline the profile breaks, before appealing. Google's guidelines identify the qualifying conditions plainly: avoid prohibited content and behavior, reflect the business accurately, and comply with the product guidelines, which cover name, address, hours, categories and practitioner eligibility.

Creating a replacement profile is the one move to avoid, because a second profile for the same agent breaks the one-profile-per-business rule that may have caused the suspension in the first place. Top Real Estate Systems handles profile reinstatement as a fixed-price service and does not guarantee an outcome, because Google decides reinstatements and no agency controls that decision.

How long does a Google Business Profile reinstatement take?

Google publishes no service level for reinstatement decisions, and Top Real Estate Systems does not quote one. Timelines circulated by marketing vendors are their own observations rather than a Google commitment.

What an agent can control is how complete the first appeal is. An appeal that identifies the specific guideline, states the correction already made, and attaches ordinary proof of the real-world business gives the reviewer everything the guidelines ask for.

Timelines are unverified

Several marketing vendors publish typical reinstatement timeframes for Google Business Profile appeals. Top Real Estate Systems has not independently verified any of those figures and has found no published Google commitment to a decision window, so no timeline appears on this page.
