Answers for real estate agents
How does SEO work for a real estate agent?
SEO for a real estate agent means helping Google understand the agent's website and profile so that people searching for an agent in that area find them. Google's own SEO Starter Guide describes SEO as helping search engines understand content and helping users find a site, and says there are no secrets that will automatically rank a site first.

What does SEO mean for a real estate agent's website?
Google's SEO Starter Guide defines SEO as helping search engines understand content and helping users find a site. For an agent, that means a site where each important page answers one clear question, such as who the agent is, which areas they serve and how they help sellers or buyers, in words a client would actually search.
The title of each page matters. Google describes the title link as the headline of the search result, which helps people decide which result to click.
What should a real estate agent's website include for SEO?
The pages that tend to matter for an individual agent are: a page about the agent with their licensed name, brokerage and service area; a page for each town or area they genuinely serve; and plain answers to the questions clients ask before they call. Google's guide asks for content that is helpful, reliable and written for people first.
Pages copied across dozens of towns with only the city name changed, or pages about areas the agent does not serve, work against that standard.
Does an agent need both SEO and a Google Business Profile?
For searches like "real estate agent" plus a town, Google usually shows map results first and regular website results below them. The Google Business Profile is what appears in the map results, and the website is what appears in the regular results. Each also supports the other, because the profile links to the site and the site confirms the profile's name, area and phone number.

How long does SEO take for a real estate agent?
Google's SEO Starter Guide says some changes can take effect in a few hours and others several months, and suggests waiting a few weeks before judging a change. A new or rebuilt agent website usually needs its pages discovered and indexed before it can rank at all, which is why submitting a sitemap in Google Search Console matters.
Rankings that depend on other sites linking to or mentioning the agent build more slowly, over months.
Can anyone guarantee a real estate agent a first-page ranking?
No one can guarantee a real estate agent a first-page ranking. Google states in its SEO Starter Guide that there are no secrets that will automatically rank a site first. A provider can guarantee the work it does, such as pages written, profiles corrected and reports delivered, but not the position Google chooses.
